WELCOME FROM THE DIRECTOR

Hello,

and welcome to the Institute for Human Neuroscience (IHN) at Boys Town National Research Hospital. This website offers an introduction to our Institute, and I hope it will communicate current progress toward our mission of propelling innovation and discovery in lifespan cognitive neuroscience and advancing real-world applications of research through mentorship and collaboration, all in world-class facilities.

Our laboratory directors lead cutting-edge, multi-modal research programs in topics such as trauma, drug and alcohol abuse, cerebral palsy, pediatric brain health, Down syndrome, hearing loss, aging, neuroHIV, Alzheimer’s disease, neuropsychiatric disorders, and the effects of environmental toxins like radon, as well as understanding the normally developing human brain across the lifespan.

We are committed to developing and supporting talent and creative ideas through collaboration in a nurturing, inclusive environment, as we believe embracing diversity of all types will enable us to make important discoveries and to best utilize the advanced, state-of-the-art neuroscience equipment and resources that are housed within the physical space of the Institute.

Since we opened our doors in the spring of 2021, our laboratories have contributed over 130 new peer-reviewed manuscripts to the field of neuroscience and have been awarded over $47 million in federal research funding. Many of our students and scholars, including undergraduate summer scholars, post-baccalaureate research assistants, graduate students, and post-doctoral fellows, have achieved incredible milestones, including publishing in top scientific journals (such as PNAS and Brain), being recruited into the most elite programs and universities worldwide, and receiving some of the most prestigious awards and recognitions in our field.

It is my pleasure to introduce you to the Institute for Human Neuroscience at Boys Town National Research Hospital, and I hope that the website is informative and conveys the unique scientific environment that is IHN – an exceptional place to establish or advance a career in human neuroscience.

Please feel free to contact any of us by email for additional information.
